RIO 2016 – Day 8

Day 7As we get into the second week of RIO 2016, the countdown begins and with some medal hopes fading away on seventh day I am now starting to get anxious. Atanu Das shot very well but rains and the best archer in the world were not in his favor at all.

Both the badminton duos went down badly in their matches and none of them expect to go to the next round. Surprisingly men’s hockey had to settle with a draw with Canada instead of a win. This will now bring a suspense in their QF rival to be. I was personally quite disappointed with Gagan missing the finals once again in 50 MT Prone. I hope he fairs better in 50MT 3 P day after. I am sure whole country is wishing him to do well in that event.

The great news from Tennis court that Sania and Rohan have now move to SF after defeating Andy Murray and his partner. One more win and they are on the much desired podium. Also, Vikas won his Pre-QF bout comfortably and one more win will give him a place on the podium. They he has been boxing he is looking quite determined to come back with a medal.

Athletics team has also not brought any exciting news till now. Most disappointing was Vikas Gowda for Discuss throw. Its time for us to look for a younger Discuss thrower. Today three of our girls will be racing in two events, let us see how they fair.

Our next hockey and badminton doubles matches today are inconsequential. There will be some shooting action as well but I am not sure if we should rest any hopes on that. After today I will start counting my hopes and pick possible winners. Though, there is not much to look at this stage.
